  • Support for your job search

  • Retrenchment benefits and measures

CHALLENGE
Make sure that the government articles are simple, clear and easy to understand.

SOLUTION

Plan and conduct content usability testing with 10 participants.

HOW I HELPED

  • UX Writing for 2 articles

  • Planned research questions and activities for content usability testing

  • Wrote survey questions, created test materials, and made content recommendations based on the results.

Process - Content Testing Methods

For LifeSG’s content UT, we used 3 methods:

  • highlighting test

  • comprehension survey

  • and readability survey.

Highlighting test

First, we asked participants to read the content at their own pace. They are encouraged to think aloud and share their thoughts at any time they wish to.

Then, we invited them to highlight the information that they found useful and clear in green, and the information that they found not useful and unclear in red.

Comprehension survey

We also invited participants to answer a series of simple and factual questions about the content they have just read. They were free to refer to the content while completing the survey. We wanted to test their understanding and recall, but not their memory.

Readability survey

For each article, we asked participants to give a score based on:

  • ease of reading

  • clarity

  • usefulness

  • user confidence

Outcome

At the end of content usability testing, I made 6 recommendations to change the article’s information architecture and edit certain descriptions based on the qualitative results.
